The pneumatic control valve is a core regulating device used in industrial automation to control flow, pressure, temperature and liquid level. Valve bodies and bonnets are made from WCB, CF8, CF8M or special alloys for corrosive, high-temperature and high-pressure service. The seat and plug can be hard-faced with stellite to resist wear. Flow characteristics include linear, equal percentage and quick opening. Linear trim is suitable for level and pressure control; equal percentage trim is preferred for flow control. Pneumatic control valves can be supplied as single-seat, double-seat, cage-guided, sleeve or rotary types. Single-seat valves offer tight shutoff; double-seat valves give larger capacity and smaller unbalanced force. Rotary valves, including V-notch ball and eccentric plug valves, handle slurries and viscous media. Actuators may be diaphragm or piston type. A major application is pneumatic conveying. The valve regulates conveying air, powder or granules through pipelines, maintaining differential pressure and flow velocity. It is used in dilute-phase and dense-phase conveying, pressure tank discharge, rotary feeders and dust collection systems. The valve is also applied in steam pressure-reducing stations, cooling water control, fuel oil metering, gas blending, reactor temperature control, liquid level control and other continuous processes.
