Alloy powder pneumatic conveying systems are engineered to move fine metal powders safely, efficiently, and without contamination. From nickel-based and cobalt-based superalloys to titanium, aluminum, and stainless steel powders, these systems deliver precise metering and reliable transfer. Our solution combines robust equipment, advanced automation, and customized process design for powder metallurgy, additive manufacturing, and thermal spray operations.

Handling alloy powder is difficult because particles are abrasive, cohesive, heavy, and easily oxidized. Manual handling causes dust exposure, material loss, and inconsistent quality. A closed pneumatic conveying line keeps powder fully enclosed from storage to process equipment, protecting operators from inhalation and preventing cross-contamination between different alloys.

Depending on material properties and required capacity, we offer dense phase and dilute phase conveying. Dense phase systems use low velocity and high pressure to push powder gently through the pipeline, reducing particle degradation and pipe wear. Dilute phase systems use higher velocity and lower pressure for high-capacity transfer over short or medium distances. Material analysis guides the selection.

The main components include a feed hopper with level control, rotary airlock or screw feeder, positive displacement blower or vacuum pump, conveying pipeline, cyclone separator, reverse-pulse bag filter, and programmable logic controller. All parts are sized for the specific powder. Contact components can be made of 304 or 316L stainless steel with smooth internal finishes to prevent sticking and simplify cleaning.

During operation, alloy powder is metered into the conveying line by the feeder. Compressed air or nitrogen carries the particles through the pipeline to the destination receiver. Gas and powder are separated in the cyclone and bag filter, then powder is discharged into a storage hopper or filling station. The PLC controls sequence, pressure, and feeder speed for accurate batching and repeatable performance.

Customization is central to every project. We configure systems for conveying distance, elevation change, capacity in kilograms per hour, and available space. For explosive metal dusts, we add inert gas conveying, static grounding, explosion vents, and pressure shock-resistant design. For frequent product changes, we provide quick-release clamps, CIP spray balls, and low dead-space piping to reduce downtime and speed up cleaning.

Safety is a major priority. Alloy dust can form explosive mixtures when suspended in air. Our systems are designed according to ATEX or NFPA guidelines for hazardous areas. We use conductive materials, continuous earth bonding, and antistatic filter media to prevent static charge buildup. Optional oxygen monitoring and nitrogen purge systems further reduce fire and explosion risk.

The closed system prevents oxidation and moisture absorption, preserving flowability, particle size, and oxygen content. Low-velocity dense phase conveying reduces wear on elbows and pipe walls, while variable frequency drives lower energy consumption. This is essential for high-value alloy powders used in critical applications, ensuring consistent quality and lower operating costs.

Applications include metal injection molding feedstock handling, laser cladding powder supply, plasma spray powder transfer, hot isostatic pressing mold filling, and powder metallurgy press loading. Our systems can be integrated with sieving machines, mixers, and weighing systems to form a complete powder processing line. Each installation is tested with the customer's actual material before shipment.

From material testing to installation supervision and training, our engineering team provides complete support. We supply detailed drawings, PLC software, spare parts lists, and maintenance schedules. After commissioning, we offer remote diagnosis and on-site service, ensuring long-term reliability and production efficiency. Contact us for a customized proposal and quotation.
