Soda ash powder is a key raw material in glass, chemical, detergent, and metallurgy industries. Its fine particle size, low bulk density, and hygroscopic nature make bulk handling and transfer challenging. A well engineered pneumatic conveying solution is essential for safe, clean, and efficient movement from storage to process equipment.
Our custom pneumatic conveying systems are designed specifically for soda ash powder. We combine decades of engineering experience with advanced material handling technology to deliver a complete solution that fits your plant layout, capacity, and process requirements. Every system is tailored to handle the unique flow characteristics of soda ash while preventing attrition, dust escape, and moisture absorption.
We provide both dilute phase and dense phase conveying options. Dilute phase conveying uses high air velocity and low pressure to suspend the powder in the pipeline. It is suitable for short-distance transfer and moderate capacities. Dense phase conveying uses high pressure and low velocity to push material plugs along the pipeline, which reduces product degradation, pipeline wear, and energy consumption for longer distances or fragile operations.
The core equipment in a soda ash powder conveying system includes a rotary airlock feeder, roots blower or screw compressor, feed hopper with bin activator, conveying pipeline, receiver or cyclone separator, filter receiver, and a centralized control panel. The rotary airlock ensures metering and pressure sealing. The blower or compressor provides the required air volume and pressure, while the pipeline is designed with proper bends and diameters to minimize pressure drop and material buildup.
Our custom systems can include a vacuum conveying layout for unloading bulk bags, bulk tankers, or railcars, and a pressure conveying layout for distributing soda ash to multiple silos and processing machines. Vacuum transfer is ideal for low-profile installations and avoids dust leakage. Pressure transfer allows longer conveying distances and multiple discharge points, with automatic switching and batch weighing for precise dosing.
Hygiene and product quality are critical in soda ash handling. We install bag filters and vent filters at all silos and receivers to protect air quality and recover fine powder. The conveying gas is filtered and dehumidified to avoid condensation and caking. Piping can be made of stainless steel or carbon steel with smooth internal surfaces, and all flanges and couplings are sealed to prevent moisture ingress and dust emission.
Our engineering service starts with an on-site survey or plant data review. We calculate the required conveying capacity, conveying distance, line diameter, air velocity, pressure, and power consumption. We select the right components, create 3D layouts and P&ID diagrams, and provide installation, commissioning, and operator training. This turnkey approach ensures the system performs reliably from day one.
The systems are built for harsh operating environments. We use heavy-duty rotary valves with abrasive-resistant tips, pressure relief devices, level indicators, variable frequency drives, and PLC controls with touch-screen HMI. Alarms and interlocks protect the equipment and operators. The controls can be integrated into your existing DCS or MES system, allowing remote monitoring and automated batch reporting.
Compared with mechanical conveyors, pneumatic conveying reduces dust emissions, saves floor space, and offers flexible routing around existing equipment. It also reduces manual labor and maintenance, while providing a fully enclosed pipeline that keeps the powder clean and stable. Our proven designs have been used in many soda ash plants with capacities from a few tonnes per hour to over one hundred tonnes per hour.
